This cutlery was chosen from the German Werkbund for his index „Deutsches Warenbuch“ (1915). In addition to the cutlery designed by Richard Riemerschmid, it was the only one designed by a modern artist, which was accepted by the panel. In addition to these, just classic shapes and designs were chosen in this section, and those were produced already at the beginning of the 19th century.
Karl Groß’ cutlery with “perledge” added easily to the selection of classic pattern.

The selection aimed at „types“, which could be used for mass production and could be “valid on the market for more than 200 years”. That was the right of the members.
For the first time in germany this book had set manifestation of technical progress against traditional craft-oriented appraoches. "Made in germany" became a quality trademark.
