Orange ABS- body of plastic with sunk handhold, metal.

Design: Dario and Mario Bellini, 1968.
Implementation: Grundig Factory, Fürth, internal name “GA 45”, later “Phono boy”. Run on batteries 2 x 4,5 volt.
Marked.: Grundig.
Measurements
: 3 ¼" x 7 ¾" x 8 5/8" (8,3 x 19,7 x 22 cm).

Grundig had the license for the record player for 45er singles actually produced by Minerva, Italy.

The appliance was exported to Germany and formed a welcome alternative above the puristic brown-appliances.

In the 60s, Mario Bellini achieved early fame with innovative technical appliances in the small format. The "Phono boy" mates joke with elegance. The form of the closed, streamlined plastic-casing is absolutely autonomous and derived from the possibilities of the material, the plastic.

The cover doesn't need to be opened to pass the 45 record. It has to be pushed through an opening-slit from above, the on/off-switch is appropriate at the side.

The portable "blaster" was produced in orange and poison-green. The orange "Phono boy" has been included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

State : Working, very good condition, minimal tracks of use.
