The slim cuboid – with reason called "toaster" – was introduced 1966 as the first table lighter for Braun. Over a new developed pusher, one can ignite the lighter electromagnetic. The fuel is gas.
Reinhold Weiss contributed for the Braun AG numerous product-innovations of the early 60er years and promoted decisively the development of the formation-concept "good form". Weiss studied at the “Hochschule für Gestaltung” in Ulm; in 1959-67 he designed for the Braun AG. Since 1967, he lives in the USA where he worked in the first years for Unimark International in Chicago. From 1970 on he opened his own Design Studio in Chicago.
His analytic action and the sovereign contact with the area-geometry predestined him to the man for premieres. Weiss designed as well the first hairdryer, the first water-stove, the first coffee-mill, the first grill-appliance and just this first lighter. Functional principles like manageability, clearness and the ability to combine were converted here in miniature. The subordination of all singles-aspects under an aesthetic infinitive meant the realization of system-design in the Ulmer sense.
Zustand: working, in good condition, with minimal tracks of use.
